Description:
The United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service is responsible
for managing the National Forests from the adverse affects of air
pollution. This web site provides public access to real-time air
quality information collected by the Forest Service. These data
are used to monitor air quality conditions in and near Forest Service
managed lands with the goal of protecting, and where necessary,
working to improve visibility and other resources affected by air
pollution.

The Western Regional Air Partnership (WRAP) is a collaborative effort
of tribal governments, state governments and various federal agencies
to implement the Grand Canyon Visibility Transport Commission's
recommendations and to develop the technical and policy tools needed
by western states and tribes to comply with the U.S. EPA's regional
haze regulations.
Technology: The WRAP organization
hired Cobalt to renovate and upgrade the existing WRAP site to make
it easier to update, manage and sort information. The site was upgraded
with a search engine that can read HTML and PHP data as well as
PDF documents and a PHP current events calendar.

Washington. The purpose of HazeCam is to demonstrate the effects
of air pollution on visibility, and in doing so, educate the public
about air quality issues and the regional nature of air pollution.
Weather stations port information to a centralized database in order
to provide current up-to-the-minute readings on barometric pressure,
ozone and black carbon levels, precipitation measurements and temperature.
